Distilled in
a new york state of mind
What is Sound Shore?
For some, it’s a collection of towns and villages located on or near the Long Island Sound. A region originally called Mamaroneck, or a place where the freshwater meets the salt.
We just think of it as home. It’s where we strive to create a pure expression of place, and provide a relaxed ambiance where fresh ideas can mix with the old salt.
The journey began in 2016 when Vinny and Carly Miata opened Good Shepherd Distillery, making small-batch craft spirits. Soon after, they joined forces with master distiller Artie Bruno, another local resident whose family owned the legendary Larchmont Tavern.
Out of this union was born Sound Shore single malt, a small-batch single barrel American whiskey. And with it, a rechristening. Good Shepherd is now proudly known as Sound Shore Distillery. Purveyor of Young Spirits from Historic Shores.

Just a taste of the empire state
Local boy Don McLean may have sung about drinking whiskey in Rye, but we invite you to enjoy it a few miles down Boston Post Road in the heart of Mamaroneck. In the comfortable and cozy tasting room, we offer tasting flights and seasonal craft cocktails featuring our own spirits, of course. But we also offer four New York State beers on tap, and a selection of NYS wines, spirits, ciders, and farm-to-table nibbles. It's the perfect place to kick back and enjoy the best of everything the region has to offer.
Ask about our tour-and-tasting packages, where you can follow the journey our spirits take from beginning to bottle.
